Singing Doe is excited to add an Open Mic and Networking social to it's annual event!

We are partnering with the Emerging Artists at the Lien Cultural Cafe at the Dahl Arts Center to offer an additional opportunity for Singing Doe attendees to show off their stuff! Join us in the Bruce H. Lien Cultural Café at the Dahl (Kansas City Street entrance) for an Open Mic hosted by Singing Doe alum Elaine Romero-Douglas followed by an informal social at a local hot spot (venue to be announced).

Time for our second annual Singing Doe workshops! All workshops are geared towards women and girls interested in music and are completely FREE! (Please RSVP to this Facebook event ahead of the date so we can get an idea of how many people area coming, thanks)

    Songwriter’s Workshop with Anna Robins
    Try your hand at lyric writing! We will go through one or two writing exercises to help get the creative juices flowing and challenge your skills. No previous experience needed. Don’t have to be a musician. And don’t worry, you won’t be pressured to share. (Please bring paper and a writing utensil)

    Finance for Performers
    Join us for a presentation on tax laws pertaining to musicians and performers, tips and tricks for managing your performance finances, and hear from experienced artists Jami Lynn and Kimberly Metz Bachman. The scope of tax law and business management is always changing, but we want to share with you what we know!

    We’re honored to have three experienced artists from our area sitting on our panel covering everything from how they got started, to what challenges they’ve faced, to the best advice they have to offer you. Panel includes Kim Plender from Kim and the Cue Balls, Marnie Cook, and Eliza Blue. Come listen, learn, and ask questions!
  • 2:30 PM - 3:30pm
    Open Acoustic (Folk-Style) Jam
    Back by popular demand, we’ll be hosting another jam! Bring your acoustic instruments and play along with this welcoming group of people! We will cover the basic “unofficial rules” of folk-style jams so you know what to do the next time you go to one.
